Why Choose the ED Visa?
The Non-Immigrant ED visa is one of the most accessible and popular long-term visas for expats in Thailand. By partnering with certified Thai universities, language schools, and sports academies, we provide comprehensive visa packages that allow you to stay in the country long-term.
We arrange all the necessary documentation, school paperwork, and manage the immigration process so you can focus on enjoying your life in Thailand without worrying about visa runs.
📋 Quick Overview
- Eligibility: Ages 14–49 (Note: Applicants aged 14–18 require parental consent and a birth certificate)
- Programs: Study the Thai language, Muay Thai, and more
- Validity: 3 to 15 months
- Renewal: Renewable every 3 months or annually, depending on your chosen program

⚠️
Important Notice Regarding ED Visas: Thai Immigration applies specific guidelines and criteria for granting Education Visas, and the exact requirements can vary significantly depending on the local immigration office and the passport you hold. Because immigration policies and local office requirements vary, we must always verify your eligibility before starting any ED visa process.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to leave Thailand to get this visa?
In most cases, no. If you are currently in Thailand on a Tourist Visa or Visa Exemption, we can process the ED visa entirely within the country. However, this depends on your current visa status, which we will assess during your free consultation.
Can I work on an Education Visa?
No. The ED visa strictly prohibits employment in Thailand. If you want to work legally, you will need a Non-Immigrant B Visa and a Work Permit. If you work remotely for a foreign company or client, the
DTV Visa is specifically designed for you.
How long can I stay on an ED visa?
The duration depends on the option you choose. Language School (Pattaya): 3 to 12 months, renewable for another term. Thai University: Your initial visa is valid for 15 months; after this period, it can be renewed for an additional year. Many expats maintain ED visas in Pattaya for several years.
What if I want to travel outside Thailand on an ED visa?
You can travel, but you must obtain a Re-Entry Permit from immigration before leaving Thailand. Without it, your ED visa will be immediately cancelled upon exit. We can easily arrange a single or multiple Re-Entry Permit for you. We also strongly recommend booking our
VIP Fast Track airport service for your return to Thailand — our team will personally meet you at the airport and ensure you receive the correct entry stamp smoothly and without complications.
Can I open a Thai bank account or get a driver's licence with an ED visa?
Due to new banking regulations, Thai banks generally no longer accept ED, DTV, or Tourist visas for opening a new bank account. However, your ED visa is extremely useful for everyday life — we can help you obtain a
Residence Certificate, which allows you to easily apply for or renew a
Thai driving licence, or register a vehicle in your name.
Do I need to show a bank balance to apply for the ED visa?
No. Unlike retirement or marriage visas, the Education Visa does not require you to keep a specific amount of money locked in a Thai bank account or prove a monthly income. This makes it one of the easiest and most stress-free ways to stay in Thailand long-term.
